Mexican Fiesta Decorations

Fiestas are an integral part of the Mexican culture. And that colorful culture with all the gaiety, the traditions, the Mexican fiesta parties, make this beautiful and different country an adventuresome and delightful place to call home as I discovered while living in San Miguel de Allende  in the 90s.

Almost every day in some community you can find fiesta decorations which tell you there’s a party going on for you to join!

Because there are many thousands of feasts or festivals known as fiestas celebrated in Mexico, many fiesta party decorations are created with all the party ideas and party supplies are sold everywhere in the stores there.

Lively party music sometimes with Mariachis leads to dancing and the feeling of festivities is welcome to the hard-working people . Mexican candy and food and drink are plentiful.

The Mexican people are usually warm and friendly and very creative making huge paper flowers in all colors, red and green beads and some cheap costumes.

The more elaborate Mexican dresses, culture masks, traditional masks, and more decorative and costly costumes are usually reserved for the more important and popular Mexican holidays like Cinco de Mayo, Semana Santa or Holy Week, El Grito or Independence day, Day of the Dead, and Christmas Day to name but a few.

For the more elaborate celebrations sometimes party fiesta invitations are sent out and so many are expected that food delivery is required.

Real Mexican foods are quite unlike what is typically found in the usual Mexican Restaurants in the US and other countries.the food is very different and can be quite spicy and fiery as I found out if I didn’t remember to ask when ordering. The street food smelled so very delicious that I was tempted more than once even though we were warned that it wasn’t always sanitary because of a lack of water
there on the street.

Decorations may include sombreros, maracas, inflatable cactus, boots, chili peppers, piñatas, and Mexican art and fiesta posters.

Other decorations might include red and green fiesta beads and glow products at night.

Mexican party games are played and children love taking turns hitting the piñata filled with candy and trying to be  the one to knock it down. One time as I was returning to the US for a visit I came up in my car and brought a huge piñata which was very popular with the kids.

Many of the larger fiestas are a mixture of Mexican and American cultures especially many of the ones that are not religious and so attract participants from all other Mexico.

You will have to travel to Mexico and visit and witness many of these larger colorful events which happen around the more popular fiesta party days such as the Day of the Dead which is a very spiritual time when the people remember those loved ones who have already passed from this life.

Altars are prepared and are a tribute to the loved one and is celebrated in the fall on November second.
